About Us
Our Story
Schmidt Insurance Services Inc. was originally founded in 1970 by Clarence Schmidt, Lois’s father, under the name Smitty’s Insurance. Clarence passed away in 1981 and Lois and her mother, R. Helen, operated the business together until 1984. Helen retired in 1984 and Lois purchased the agency and it became Schmidt Insurance Services. In 1986 the agency moved to its current location at 6 West First Avenue in Odessa. The Wilbur location was purchased in 2016 and moved to its current location at 203 NW Main Ave in July 2020.

Wilbur Office Location only.
Vehicle Licensing services are open from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Monday thru Friday, closed for Federal Holidays.

Kristine Dye
Agent
Kristine is a graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management. She has been working in the insurance industry since 1994 and joined Schmidt Insurance Services, Inc. in 2016. She is originally from Oregon and moved to eastern Washington in 1997. Kristine is married, has two sons and multiple pets. She enjoys spending time with her family. She likes to hike and is a bird and wildflower enthusiast.
Cheryl Lasz, Agent
Crop & Farm Insurance Specialist
Cheryl grew up in Wilbur, Washington and comes from a family of dryland wheat farmers. She graduated from Washington State University in 2011 with a degree in Spanish and Political Science. Before joining Schmidt Insurance Services in 2023, she was a Marketing Supervisor for Rain and Hail and spent almost 10 years with the company doing all things crop insurance. Her territory was WA, Western OR and the three Northern counties of CA. She made the job change to be closer to home for her little one and husband. Cheryl loves to be with family and friends as well as her fur babies, traveling, golfing, watching movies/tv shows, reading, and enjoying a nice glass of red wine.
